I have finally managed to get a cold from air-con and now I am in Patong in Phuket, Thailand.

As I ordered my transportation from the hostel it was easy to the hostel once I clear passport control. That tooks 1 hour 30 minutes! It was a nightmare. Following exit from the airport I got some money. I wanted to make one big transactions of 200 pounds but unfortunately I could not. Only 75 pounds I could withdraw for some reason.

My hostel is called dive den and it dive in terms of scuba dive as it has a shop downstairs. After the 1 hour journey across the island I checked in which had a roof terrace. Not bad as the dorms look like hospital beds but all is clean and that only I worry about. That evening the sunset came down in Patong with beautiful night sky.

Patong is touristy and family orientated but in saying this it still has the sex trade and "ladyboys" walking around the main Bangla street. I met several people here who were nice and Matt from Peterborough starting his travels. We decided to go and check out the beach. Not bad but full of tourist and deckchairs everywhere.

The following day we decided to do some activities and get a tuk tuk up to the go karting arena. These karts were pretty quick at 100kph or 62mph. I also lost it several times with snaking action but was impressed with my full throttle power slide on the last corner infront of the spectator stand. Competely unintentional but caught it to not crash in complete embarrassement. These karts were fully exhilirating.

Next on the agenda was gun shooting. Once again for me. This time I shot a .38 hand gun. I believe the guns were toned down slightly as they were no where near as loud as Vietnam AK47 or M60. I got to shoot at a target which I didn't do too badly considering my hands were shaking a fair bit. Matt actually beat me on this and 97% compared to 85% on mine. We still cannot sum up this percentage of the target. As we finished the days event with relxed and chilled out with a beer. We ordered some food and once I received my that were a big bang and a very loud hissing noise. At the same time around 10 members of the came running out of the kitchen and ran outside. At this point everybody else decided too except for one old bloke. He went inside the kitchen to turn off the oxygen tank that someone had accidently knocked over. The man was demanding a beer but they would not give him one for doing his cause. He demanded and seemed like for only is living to drinks as much as he can.

On my final day I paid for a tour of James Bond Island. North of Phuket is Phang Nga where James Bond The Man With Golden Gun and Scarramanga hide out was. Check out the pictures for yourself. The tour consisted not only the Island but also canoeing through the rocks formations and caves, and private beach relaxing. This is pretty impressive and idealic with the scenery.

OK I have done a few things but in 6 days I have spent 350 pounds? How I do not know. At least I am not the only one Matt who has come from Bangkok (2 days) has spent 325 pounds. My accommodation is cheap so I do not know where it is going. And its not on the girls! It may be as I have found high season and chinese new year.
